Introduction |
Along with the Bailiwick of Guernsey (including also Alderney and Sark) and the Isle of Man, the Bailiwick of Jersey is a Crown Dependency. As noted in the Justice Committee Crown Dependencies report (2010): ‘although they are proud of their British associations, the Crown Dependencies are not part of the United Kingdom and are autonomous and self-governing, with their own, independent legal, administrative and fiscal systems.’ However, ‘the UK Government is responsible for representing them internationally and for their defence’.
