The use of traditional cattle grazing is an important part of maintaining the island’s diverse habitats. This form of management controls scrub on important dune grasslands, and encourages a range of species to thrive, including a high diversity of wild flowers and insects. Alderney Grazing Animals Project was first launched in 2003 and continues to manage a small herd of Guernsey cattle for conservation purposes.
