In 1969, after 2 years of an independent Republic of Anguilla, the British Government sent Paratroopers to restore British rule in what was called Operation Sheepskin. The Anguillans were promised that they would remain independent from St Kitts and Nevis and become a separate Crown Colony. Anguilla became an Overseas Territory in 1980. The Anguilla Archaeological and Historical Society have compiled a video about the Anguillan Revolution.
