Projects / Conservation Actions

The Central Caribbean Marine Institute performs ecological research and practical conservation activities on the coral reefs surrounding the islands. It takes a key role in lionfish management and runs a successful coral nursery facility from where propagated corals are ‘planted out’ for reef restoration. Other projects include a conservation genetics study of endangered elkhorn coral Acropora palmata.
