The fortress has an incredible history, having been the place of refuge of King Charles II during the English Civil War, and hosting re-fortified bunkers from the days of the WWII Occupation. A trip to the site also allows you to visit the hermitage, which is believed to have been where St Helier lived in approximately 550 A.D. Click here to find out more about the castle. |
