The Toad Watch Campaign was established in Jersey in 2008, with the idea of getting members of the public to help with monitoring the on-island population of the toad Bufo spinosus, a new (2014) herp species for the British list. The Campaign, which was initiated by Durrell, allows Jersey residents to report on toad activity. The data collected then allows Durrell to have a fairly accurate understanding of the annual population status. More information about Toad Watch can be found here.
