The spectacular ancient city of Kourion (Curium) sits atop a sheer cliff in the Western Sovereign Base Area (WSBA) looking out to sea. The area was first settled in Neolithic times but the city probably emerged between the 13th and 12th Centuries BC.

The ruins of the ancient stadium are preserved. The stadium has a U-shaped plan and seven rows of seats which would have accommodated around 6000 spectators.  It was built in the 2nd century AD and was used until the end of the 5th century.
