With its charismatic wildlife and military history, the Falkland Islands attract many tourists each year. Most visitors arrive by cruise ship (35,000 – 60,000 passengers per year) and stay just a day, allowing time to explore the capital, Stanley, and the nearest penguin colonies. A further 7,800 tourists in 2012 arrived via flights from the UK and South America who tend to stay longer and visit a wider part of the islands. |
