The Isle of Man is the only entire country to become a Biosphere Reserve in the UNESCO world network of Biosphere Reserves. The UNESCO Biosphere Reserve initiative will support the delivery of the Biodiversity Strategy through raising the profile of biodiversity, encouraging environmentally sustainable management, drawing attention to the commercial opportunities and adding momentum to the conservation of our natural heritage. This project is intended to show how low-impact, sustainable industries and a Green Economy can be compatible with a high quality, well managed and biodiverse environment.
